St John's Church
One of the oldest churches in the Secunderabad cantonment, a plain Gothic hall with a battlemented tower and old regimental memorials inside.
History & Story
St John's was built fifteen years after the British first established their cantonment at Secunderabad, making it one of the oldest buildings in the twin city. Inside, regimental memorial tablets and inscribed stones record the casualties of campaigns across the Deccan and Afghanistan, a stone catalogue of colonial military history carved by survivors. The Diocese of Medak conducted a restoration in 2005; the church is still in active use.
