Hyderabad Deccan Station
Also known as: Nampally Station
The city's main railway station, its long arcaded frontage a familiar face of Hyderabad in film and photograph.
History & Story
Hyderabad Deccan Station's arcaded frontage, a long run of identical arched openings across the full width, has appeared in hundreds of films and photographs as the face of Hyderabad's welcome to arrivals. Rebuilt in 1921 on the original 1874 site, the station retains a pre-Partition character that the city's faster-moving commercial areas have lost. The station connects Hyderabad to the national rail network and handles millions of passengers annually.
