Kachiguda Railway Station
Also known as: Kacheguda Station
Terminus built for the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway in a domed Gothic-Mughal blend. Restored by South Central Railway with its cream-and-red colour scheme intact.
History & Story
The Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway was one of the finest private rail networks in India, built using bonds raised in London and managed with British engineering expertise. Kachiguda was its city terminus when the main railway ran through Secunderabad, and the building's triple domes and Gothic-Mughal arched porte-cochère announced the modernity of Hyderabad state. Restored by South Central Railway, the station retains its cream-and-terracotta colour scheme and remains in active daily use.
