Moazzam Jahi Market
A curved granite market building with a clock tower, named for the seventh Nizam's second son. Restored in 2021; long known for its fruit, ice cream and flower trade.
History & Story
Named for Moazzam Jah, the seventh Nizam's second son, this curved granite market building with its central clock tower was Hyderabad's answer to the great covered bazaar tradition of the Islamic world. The flower sellers, fruit merchants, and ice cream shops that occupied it for decades became inseparable from the identity of Abids. Decades of commercial decline left it decaying; a 2021 restoration returned the building and its traders, a rare case of a Hyderabad heritage building rescued from urban neglect.
