Excavated 5th–6th century CE capital ruins of the Vishnukundina dynasty, featuring brick residential complexes, fortified walls, and rock-cut shrines.
History & Story
Extensive excavations on the Keesaragutta plateau uncovered a royal fortified citadel of the Vishnukundina kings (c. 450–620 CE). The ruins feature monumental burnt-brick palace foundations, square stone-paved courtyards, defensive ramparts, and pottery inscribed with early Telugu-Brahmi script.
