A little-noticed 1865 clock tower inside the historic Government Boys High School precinct at Sultan Bazaar, part of the former British Residency Bazaars near Koti.

History & Story

The Sultan Bazaar Clock Tower was built in 1865 within the old Residency Bazaars, the commercial district that developed around the British Residency at Koti. Its simple square form differs from the more ornate Mahbub Chowk and Secunderabad towers. Now enclosed by the Government Boys High School precinct and crowded by later buildings, it is frequently searched for as Koti Clock Tower but is easy to miss from the busy market streets. The landmark also witnessed political demonstrations before Hyderabad joined the Indian Union.
