A monumental 30-room stone caravanserai built during the reign of Abdullah Qutb Shah for merchants and traveling caravans between Golconda and Hyderabad.

History & Story

Positioned strategically along the royal travel route linking Golconda Fort to the city, the Shaikpet Sarai was constructed of dressed granite blocks with vaulted arched chambers, stables for horses and camels, and an internal courtyard. It is a rare surviving public civic structure from the 17th-century sultanate.
