The first bridge over the Musi, a run of 22 masonry arches built by Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah to link Golconda with the growing settlement that became Hyderabad.

History & Story

Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah built the first bridge over the Musi in 1578 to link the fort at Golconda with the settlement that would soon become Hyderabad. Its 22 masonry arches have survived six centuries of Deccan history, the 1908 flood that destroyed much of the city, colonial road-making, and modern motorisation. The bridge is still in daily use, making it one of the oldest functional structures in Hyderabad and a living connection to the city's founding moment.
